The Regional Operational Programme of Western Greece – Peloponnese – Ionian Islands 2007-2013 is one of the 5 Regional Operational Programmes (ROP), which, together with the 8 Sectoral and 12 European Territorial Cooperation Programmes make up the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) for 2007-2013.
The territorial section constitutes of three regions that belong to the Convergence Objective 1 and all three of them represent GDP less than 75% of the community average.
The development vision of the Region for the present programming period is concentrated in the «Intensification of efforts to accelerate economic growth and actual convergence with the other more advanced Greek regions».
The actions of the Regional Operational Programme Western Greece – Peloponnese – Ionian Islands are concentrated in three general objectives which are:
- Development and modernization of the accessibility infrastructure
- Digital convergence by exploitation of information and communication technologies and stimulation of entrepreneurship
- Sustainable development and quality of life
Funding for the Regional Operational Programme of Western Greece – Peloponnese – Ionian Islands for the programming period 2007-2013 is 1,14 billion Euros (total public expenditure) from which 914 million Euros represent Community Participation and is financed exclusively by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
